Key Skills 2018

Web page page 001

This Autumn, Réamonn Keary and Lorna Horan will visit centres throughout the country to present the 2019-2022 RIAM piano syllabus and new piano albums. All repertoire from Elementary to Grade VIII will be performed and discussed, with particular focus on the technical and musical details that can cause dificulty for the student.

The workshop will span one and a half days, to allow sufficient time to discuss the senior repertoire. Participants will receive a copy of the Key Skills Handbook, with copies of the annotated scores for all pieces from the new Piano Albums, and teaching notes for each grade.

The focus of these sessions will include:

  • Preparing the pieces for exam performance
  • Discussing the potential challenges in each piece and how to overcome them
  • Recognising the style and character of each piece
  • How to approach the exam day
